Myth 3: Additional noise, such as loud radio, air conditioner or open window, helps not to fall asleep during driving.
Truth: Such action doesn’t cast away the sleepiness, but, on the contrary, may lead to dangerous situations on the road. The best way to get rid of tiredness and sleepiness while driving is to pull over the road and take 15-30 minutes of sleep.
The effect from a cup of strong coffee will last for no more than half an hour. And it works only in half an hour after drinking. That’s why one should provide quality sleep at night before driving for a long distance.
Myth 4: Teenagers that sometimes sleep during classes are ignorant or lazy.
Truth: Adolescents need more time to sleep than adults. They need from eight and a half to nine and a half hours of sleep to feel good and be productive during a day. The organism of teen makes them to go to bad later and to get up later in the morning. And the majority of schools are opened for classes early in the morning. This means that classes’ time coincides with the intense need of young organism to sleep.
Myth 5: Insomnia is a situation, when a person has difficulties with falling asleep.
Truth: Problems with getting asleep are one of the four insomnia indications. Other indicators are: early wake ups, repeated arousals in the night and tiredness during the day.
Insomnia can also show sleep disorder or other psychological problems. The majority on insomnia cases are treated.
More than a half of Americans have at least one of insomnia symptoms. If a person experiences insomnia indicators more than two times a week and they affect the quality of his/her life it’s necessary to consult a doctor.
