Causes why men snore are mainly related to differences in lifestyle. However there may be clear physical causes why snoring occurs.

Snoring is a serious problem because it affects everyone in earshot, including the person who is snoring. Snoring ruins lots of previously happy relationships.

Snoring can result in daytime tiredness and irritability which can increase the risk of accidents. Long-term snoring can cause circulatory problems like high blood pressure, heart problems and strokes.

When sleep apnea happens a build up of carbon dioxide occurs in the blood stream. The brain defines the lack of oxygen and reacts by waking the person up in order that normal breathing can recommence. Sleep apnea can occur several times per night and the effects of broken sleep are the same as with snoring. But the risk of heart failure increase with sleep apnea as the heart has to work so much harder.
