If at least one parent snores their child has higher chances to become a snorer too. But still you can overcome snoring.

Inherited Snoring

Inherited Snoring
It is interesting to know that snoring can also be inherited. In April of 2006 family history and their snoring habits were researched. It was found out that the children of parents, who snore, are three times prone to snore themselves. Such children have an increased risk of developing behavioral problems such as ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) and other snoring-associated health problems. Their snoring was caused with the availability of an allergic sensitization, a condition also known as Atopy. 681 children who were an average age of 12 were involved in this experiment. It was aloso researched that children who have who snored more than three times a week were also three times more likely to snore themselves.

After the experiments people got to know that children with Atopy were two times more likely to snore at least three times per week comparing with children who tested negative for allergic sensitization. Thus, snoring can be inherited as various behavioral problems, cognitive deficits, metabolic and cardiovascular problems. The problem seems to be so serious that the American Academy of Pediatrics has recommended every child be tested for obstructive sleep-disordered breathing. (Partial or complete upper airway obstruction during a child's sleep was regarded as disorder, and snoring is frequently considered as one of the warning signs). Racial effects on snoring were researched too. For example, African American children are more prone to have problems with snoring. Besides, children who suffer from allergies are twice prone to snore frequently comparing other children.

Do not be afraid that snoring can be inherited; you can help your problem using various methods. The first thing you should do is to find out the cause. There are such methods as the change of lifestyle or the use of oral appliances. Snoring has a negative influence on the person who divides with a snorer his or her bed. Such people lose about one full hour of sleep every evening, while waking up about 21 times an hour! This sleep disruption leads to serious problems with concentration and irritability. Such sleep disruption is known as spousal arousal syndrome. Thus, snoring is not only your problem, but the problem of those who are in the snorer’s surrounding. It is known that 80% of snoring couples sleep apart. Thus, snoring can have various negative effects on the relationship of a couple, especially its sex life. If your spouse is a snorer, it is your common problem. Treat it or you have the necessity to sleep apart. Snoring is also a usual symptom of obstructive sleep disordered breathing, and it is known that children who snore often should apply to a sleep specialist for medical advice.
