How likely are you to doze off or fall asleep in the following situations?
Select the most appropriate number for each situation:
- would never doze = 0 - light chance of dozing = 1 - moderate chance of dozing = 2 - high chance of dozing = 3
1. While sitting and reading. 2. While watching TV. 3. While inactive sitting in a public place, such as theatre, cinema, meeting, etc. 4. While sitting as a passenger in a car for an hour without any break. 5. While lying down to rest in the middle of the afternoon when circumstances permit. 6. While sitting quietly after lunch without alcohol. 7. While sitting and talking to someone. 8. While sitting in a car when stopped for some minutes in traffic.
Now calculate all your scores. A score of 9 or above means that you may be having a problem with daytime sleepiness. A score below 9 does not necessarily indicate that you don't have a problem. Make an appointment with your healthcare professional for advice if you snore, have been told that you awake gasping for breath or if you are sleepy during the day.
