Breathing Exercises

breathing_exercisesIt is interesting that newborns don’t snore. Actually some infants make such little noise you often wonder if they are breathing at all. We are born knowing how to breathe correctly.

After a number of years we change the way we breathe because of different illnesses, people and events around us and the environment. The changes over time are imperceptible but in sum they can cause our breathing to get out of balance to a point where we start to snore.

Most of people are never actually taught how to breathe correctly. That’s why when we breathe incorrectly we don’t even know whether we are doing it right or wrong.

To produce a snoring sound we need two components. The first one is the soft throat tissue that can oscillate. And the second one is the air passing through the soft tissue that makes it vibrate causing the snoring sound. In case when we breathe slowly and smoothly the air doesn’t have enough power to cause the oscillation.

Breathing exercises teach you to breathe naturally, even when we sleep.

People who suffer from snoring tend to over-breathe. It means that they take big, deep, fast gulps of air with enough power to cause the soft tissue to oscillate. Though we need a healthy quantity of oxygen to rejuvenate our body while we sleep, there is no need to breathe as if we have just finished a huge sprint race.

While waking hours it is comparatively easy to regulate our breathing. You can rarely hear people snoring while they are awaking. And even if they did, on hearing themselves they would immediately change they way of breathing to stop the noise.

The volume of our snoring is directly related to the power of the air flowing through the soft tissue. The amount of power is regulated by the volume and speed of each breath.

Briefly, the bigger and faster will be the breath, the louder will be the snore. You can solve this problem by slowing down the speed and volume of each breath. This will still supply your body with necessary amount of oxygen. In the next morning you will awake rejuvenated and refreshed.
