Snoring and Nasal Congestion
Be aware of the fact that any kind of nasal congestion can easily cause snoring as a result of air lack. Try to get rid of initial nasal congestion and you stop snoring.
Snoring and Nasal Congestion
Nasal congestion can cause snoring. When we rest and sleep, we naturally breathe through nose. If we inhale insufficient air, the lack of air leads to mouth breathing. When nasal congestion dominates over mouth breathing while sleeping, there is a negative pressure behind the uvula and soft palate leading to more intensive vibration in the nose known as snoring.

There are many causes of nasal congestion; it can also be caused with certain medical and surgical treatments. Chronic nasal congestion usually is caused with various factors. The causes of chronic swelling of the lining of the nose and turbinates may be sinusitis, seasonal and perennial allergies. Physical blockages appear as the result of narrow intra-nasal anatomy from a deviated nasal septum, large turbinates or their combination. Among other causes that lead to the physical blockage of airflow one may call intra-nasal and sinus polyps, benign and cancerous growths.
Nasal congestion can be successfully treated. While treating seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, the offending allergens should be avoided. Taking allergy medications (antihistamines, nasal steroids) and/or immunotherapy are also helpful.

If you suffer from sinusitis, the infection should be treated with antibiotics. If you suffer from allergies, you should treat the cause of allergy. If there is a physical blockage, it does not mean that you should be surged. If the treatment is ineffective, surgery is recommended, especially for those who suffer from with chronic nasal congestion. Nasal congestion should be treated surgically in the office or in the operating room. Nasal obstruction is treated with radiofrequency turbinate ablation (Somnoplasty, Coblation) and laser turbinate surgery. Such surgeries as correction of septal deviation, turbinate reduction, nasal valve surgery, and endoscopic sinus surgery are also performed.

The measures used to improve nasal airflow can help to treat snoring and causes leading to its appearance. Among people prone to snoring are those who suffer from obesity, large tonsils, long uvula and palate, and those who have a large tongue and the jaw. Snorning can appear as a result of obstructive sleep apnea when one holds breathing for some time or when shallow breathing episodes appear during sleep. If you knbow the factors that lead to snoring, there will be more possibilities for effective cure. There is a difference between snoring and obstructive sleep apnea. People who suffer from nasal congestion, snoring, or suspect sleep apnea, should apply to a local otorhinolarynology specialist for professional advice.
